In his trevelogue - Meninjau ka-negara Sham (just a couple of pictures here), Harun Aminurrashid recounted in details, his visit to Baitul Muqaddis (Jerusalem), after completing his hajj or pilgrimage to Makkah. What a lucky man, indeed. Every inch of Jerusalem is packed with the history of Anbiya'. Among the places visited by Harun Aminurrashid: 1) The maqam of Rahil (Prophet Yusof's mother, Prophet Ya'kub's wife) on his way to Al-Khalil from Baitul Mukaddis. Al-Khalil is also known as Karyat Arba' (The four cities- because it was bordered by four hills). Al-Khalil is more widely known as Hebron 2) The three wells of Prophet Sulaiman which were used to supply water to the occupants of Jerusalem. 3) Baitulham where Prophet Isa was born. 4) The maqam of Prophet Ibrahim and his wife, Siti Sara , the maqam of Prophet Ishaq and his wife (Rabek), the maqam of Prophet Ya'kub and his wife, Leah, the maqam of Prophet Yusof ; inside Masjid Ibrahim Khalilullah. 5) The remainings of Umayyad Castle in Khirbat Al-Mafjar; 3 miles from Ariha (Jericho) 6) The Dead Sea- the old city of the ummat of Prophet Lot. 7) The old Jerusalem which was built in the era of Prophet Daud and Prophet Sulaiman (Prophet Daud's son). 8) The Masjidil Aqsa/Dome of Rock/Masjid Umar (the place where Prophet Muhammad mi'raj (ascend) to Heaven inside the old Jerusalem. 9) The old fortress of Prophet Daud with many entrances (SOUTH:Bab-en-Nabi Daud, Bab-el-Magharba, EAST:Bab-et-Tauba, Bab-Siti-Maryam, NORTH:Bab Es-Shahira, Bab-el-Amud and the New-Gate, WEST: Bab-El-Khalil. 10) Masjid Salihuddin on Mount Zaitun(Mount Olives) 11) Maqam Siti Maryam (Prophet Isa's mother) near the Gethsamane Square. --- According to Harun Aminurrashid, the term *Sham refers to the whole of Syria and part of Jordan and Lebanon.
P/s: A couple of years ago, my Jordanian friend told me, Arabs (man and woman) have no mole-pigmented spot (Malay: tahi lalat). So, they almost don't have the term for mole. Only the people of Sham have mole. So, the Arabs refers to mole as 'Shamma' (I couldn't recall the correct word) or some words derived from the root word Sham.
P P/S: I'm blindly quoting Harun Aminurrashid's Travelogue. Any mis-naming of the place is my own mis-interpretation of his words. Corrections are welcomed.
