There are four toddlers in my house. They belong to two different set of parents. There are 2+ year-old boys, one 1+ year old girl and one below-1 year old boy. And they are already showing their own personality.
Batman - always muttering a complete word, albeit a pelat one ("Daghah" for blood (darah)).
Mr Barney - can't wait to finish his word/sentence. He'll create his own half word ("uyun" for 'reverse the car', "uter" for 'computer')
Yaya - Mr Barney's younger sister. Favourite word is 'Nak'. She's small but she constantly asked to be fed. Hence the word 'Nak' . 'Nak! Nak!' .
Qadak - Batman's younger brother. He needs Nyai within his line of sight. Otherwise he'll bawl. No signature word yet. Except maybe "'Ai" to call out Nyai.
Watching Batman and Mr Barney grow, I think I can safely predict their learning curve of the rest:
1. Learn to hear 2. Learn to mimic words 3. Learn to follow instruction
And finally 4. Learn to 'melawan' - go against any instruction and just follow their whims, or worse, learn to talk back ("Mama tak maghah..." , "angan akap papa!!", "nak ugak").
*Nyai - a Javanese word for Grandmother *Yai - a Javanese word for Grandfather
