Automotive Tips

from JPJ dan Anda (97.2FM/15th June 2005:3.00pm)

Fluid for Radiator: Mineral Water, Clear River Water.
No-no : Piped water (chlorine), Rain-water.

Fuel Gauge
‘F’ means full.
‘E’ means enough.

Fuel Reserve:
Engine Capacity: Estimated Fuel Reserve (in liter)
1 liter: 3.5 liter
1.5: 4.5 liter
2.0 liter: 6 liter
3.0 liter: 10 liter

For a 1.5 (is it???, can't quite remember)- liter capacity engine
When the fuel gauge reach ‘E’ (you will hear a beep), and if you are driving at 80kmph, ideally you can still go up to 60km. If you revv up, your distance will be shorter. If slow down then you can go further. You can get the 60km distance on ideal road. But be more cautious when driving in traffic jam (with a lot of brakings and shiftings;these will cause higher fuel consumption)
Caution: when you hear the beep, don’t panic.
To optimize the fuel: Switch off the air-condition. {Switch off the a/c in the middle of afternoon?? I'll sweat like a errr, hmmm, horse???}

Moral of the story To get the most from fuel, drive at max. speed of 80kmph. But, but, but, it's so much fun driving at 120kmph. Maaan...oh bummer.
